A Massive Welcome to Harry our new Allett Apprentice!

A Massive Welcome to Harry our new Allett APPRENTICE!

Another amazing milestone for Allett Mowers as we hire a new Apprentice.

“Allett is a leading manufacturer of cylinder mowers. To keep us as a market leader our policy is the investment in product, development and employees. Investment in employees is a big part our strategy to keep increasing the growth of our business and improving year on year. Our policy is to develop the current skill base with new manufacturing techniques. As we are growing we now feel it is time to introduce a further apprentice into the manufacturing side of our business.
By bringing Harry into the business to add to the two apprentices we took on in January 2017 it will enable us to further re-train and up-skill existing staff allowing us to tackle skill shortage areas. Also, we will be able to tailor him to specific roles within the business as we have with the other two apprentices. When apprentice’s start they are usually enthusiastic and input new ideas. This as an overall will enable us to train and develop skills with the minimum disruption to the business. Our apprentices will gain NVQ level 2 and 3 giving them the opportunity to develop their chosen career paths increasing the chances of them staying on with the business progress into team leader, supervisors or even management positions”

What do you know about Allett Mowers?- They have been making cylinder mowers since 1965. They have a Homeowner Range and Sports/Professional Range and supply some of the world’s biggest clubs. They are very much a family company.
Thoughts so far on being an apprentice? Are you enjoying it/ what are you enjoying about it?
I am really enjoying it. I like building the mower cartridges and pods. I also like being part of a team. People have been very helpful and friendly and made me feel very welcome. I have been doing ‘hands-on’ work since my first day.
What can you bring to the role?- I am thorough and ensure all my work is done properly. I am a good team worker.I am dedicated and punctual.
What have you learnt so far?- I have learnt to build interchangeable cartridges- 20 & 24″ Scarifiers, 34″ Turf Rakes, 8/6 blade cylinders, Sorrel roller 34″, Brushes, Verticut cartridges and 10 blade cylinders.
How will the apprenticeship help you/ what skills will you gain?- I like being able to earn my own money. I am improving my communication skills and asking questions when needed. I hope to go on and learn welding, how to drive forklift trucks as well as of course fully assembling lawn mowers. It would give me a great deal of satisfaction building machines that are used in some of the worlds biggest sports clubs.

Harry joins Michael and Liam who started their Apprenticeships with Allett in January 2017. We wish Harry the best of luck in his apprenticeship with us and we look forward to working alongside him.
