Introducing Glyn Allen – Key Account Manager

The Allett Mowers team recently grew in size when we welcomed our new Key Account Manager, Glyn Allen to the team.

Glyn brings a wealth of experience to the Allett team and with this in mind, we sat down with him to discuss his background, his interest in mowers and what part of his new role he is most looking forward to.

Introducing Glyn Allen, New Product Specialist

Can you give us a little bit of background about your previous career?

Many moons ago I started in the garden machine and lawnmower industry working for Armitages Garden Machinery in Huddersfield in what would be described as the ‘golden years’ of our trade. Twenty years later and the Directors of Armitages decided to retire and close the business, so Debra, my wife and I decided to take over. In the following years of owning the dealership, I seemed to have many roles to fill but I really enjoyed most of the time working on repairing and servicing machines and mowers.

Where did your interest in mowers come from?

My interest in mowers can only be put down to my Great Grandfather when I was a young boy living in rural Lincolnshire, it seemed he’d cut his grass every day with his old Suffolk Colt and I would admire the stripes.

Can you give us a bit of a background on your life?

Being from the dealer network I have had very little time but the time I have I like to spend with my wife and my son who is now 5 years old.  In the summer we love to go to steam fairs, eat ice cream and go on big wheels. I am a Yorkshire lad through and through and live near Holmfirth, West Yorkshire.

What’s the proudest moment of your working career so far?

By far my proudest and biggest achievement so far is owning my own dealership for the last 10 years.

What are you most excited about working at Allett Mowers?

I have always had a passion for the specialist dealer network and British engineering and look forward to selling cylinder mowers, proper mowers for people who appreciate a proper cut. Allett is very much an in-house engineering company which encourages creative thinking, something I look forward to being a part of.

What will your new job involve/what are you responsible for?

As a former member of the dealer network, I am really looking forward to working with all of the Allett Mower dealers across the network to help promote the brand and our products and in turn increase growth and profit to Allett and the dealers.
