It is a very exciting time at Allett Mowers, not only have we moved into our new state-of-the-art facility, Regal House, but we are delighted to welcome Gregory Roberts to the team as our new Product Specialist & Field Based Merchandiser. As Product Specialist and Field Based Merchandiser, Gregory will be working to further develop existing relationships with clients whilst also making new ones within our distribution network (Including online retailers to extend our brand and it’s services to more and more potential clients). His key activities will be to undertake market research and customer surveys to support product development and help us to identify new and better ways for us to provide our customers with only the Allett Mowers. Along with this, Gregory will also be aiming to increase brand and product education among a selection of our targeted dealers, helping them, to help our clients even further. This will include him visiting our dealers to support our brand development and point of sale merchandising. Gregory will also be supporting the installation of dealer showroom displays along with monitoring and measuring company progress and comparing it to key business targets and goals. This will include arranging and attending UK based events and dealer showrooms to showcase our products, increase our business presence and improve success as a whole. Gregory’s key activities will be to undertake market research and customer surveys to support product development and help us to identify new and better ways for us to provide our customers with only the Allett Mowers. We sat down with Gregory to ask him about his new position, what his plans are, and where he came from: Can you give us a little bit of background about your career? When I was younger, the two ideas that I floated was either to join the Army and see the world a bit or go to Horticultural College. My Nan advised that 'I can cut grass at any time in my later life', so the Army won the debate! Where did your interest in lawn care stem from? I have memories of using a garden fork to aerate Nan’s lawn when I was a young lad. She was a florist and Grandad a groundsman, so I think my interest really came from them. Why did you choose to come to work for Allett? I love stripes with a twist of modern battery technology and I I think you have to be crazy passionate and dedicated about grass and fine turf care! Allett ticked all the right boxes as they seem pretty crazy about stripes too. Why is this role perfect for you? I am passionate about everything I do. A background from the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers coupled with experience of building a grounds works company from the ground up in a foreign country means I often reflect and place myself in other's shoes. As mentioned, I love fine turf care, as Allett are an industry leader, this role is such a perfect fit for both of us! What part of your new role are you looking forward to? I think more than anything, I am excited to get out there and start meeting, identifying and relating with clients. Do you have a favourite Allett Mower? As I’m a go-to homeowner range guy, it has to be the Liberty 43. Why? The battery operated machinery is the way forward in my opinion. I am amazed by the performance of the Liberty 43 having recently used it on a 10-degree incline. You’ve joined Allett at an exciting time with the move to Regal House, what do you want to achieve in your new role? I want to be able to help Allett evolve. Working with dealers and talking to the customers will help get a good understanding of what people want from an Allett Mower and hopefully I can have a big impact on that. Have you got any new and exciting ideas to bring to Allett? Being given this questionnaire I was asked to keep it short. I am a visionary and can write war & peace all day long, how long have you got? Greg has joined Allett mowers after running his own lawn care business in Hamburg, Germany. Greg has also served with British Army receiving a ‘Commendation for exceptionally meritorious Service’ in Afghanistan and served his apprenticeship with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. Greg will be calling on all garden machinery dealers to assist with showroom displays, product training and after-sales service. In addition, Greg is available to support Garden machinery dealers at open days and shows Sales Director, Leigh Bowers, says “Greg has a lot of expertise in lawn-care excellence and a deep understanding of machinery. He makes a great addition to further strengthen the Allett team and support our Great British brand.”
